From our State Director, Josh Gilreath:
I’ve known Coach Terrill for several years now. He was my neighbor for 5 years, the deacon chair at the church I pastored, but mostly a dear friend and partner in ministry. He is a proven winner on and off the field. Jeff has been a coach in the state of Mississippi for 35 years. He has coached football at every level: public school, private school, and junior college. He can relate to young people from various socioeconomic backgrounds. He also has the respect of coaches around our state. Most importantly, he has a love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
FCA has had a tremendous influence on Coach Terrill’s life. Bill Buckner, our former FCA director, was used by the Lord to see Jeff come to know and grow in his walk with Jesus. Coach has been an FCA supporter and huddle coach. He knows the difference that a coach can make. He also knows the pressures in coaching. Over the last several years Coach and I have prayed together about God calling him into vocational ministry, and specifically the call to minster to athletes and coaches through FCA.
In Mississippi we have 34 staff members. Three of the four quadrants in our state currently have a Multi-Area Director that provides vision and leadership for the staff in the area. We need a Multi-Area Director for the staff in the Central/Southwestern quadrant. This person would be a visionary leader for our existing 8-member staff team. Additionally they would be responsible for recruiting and hiring additional staff to more effectively minister to athletes and coaches in this area, and would serve on the FCA Senior Leadership team for our state. In this role they would help shape the overall vision and strategy for reaching our state for Christ. I believe that Jeff Terrill is God’s man for the Multi-Area Director Role for Central/Southwestern MS. I’m therefore excited to announce that Jeff has resigned from his position as Head Football Coach at Starkville Academy to purse his calling with FCA. While an official start date has not been set, our goal is to have Jeff join the FCA team in the early spring.
Jeff is married to his high school sweetheart, Jan. They have three adult children, Jay, Jennifer, and Jessica.
